Bishop Museum (USA). 'Sometimes it’s a challenge to find remnants of the ancient Hawaiian ways that flowed on this island for more than 1000 years before Captain Cook arrived. That’s what makes the Bishop Museum such a rich cultural and natural-history storehouse. Inspect rare artifacts such as the feathered cloak worn by Kamehameha the Great and fearsome kiʻi akua (carved temple images).' http://www.lonelyplanet.com/usa/honolulu-and-waikiki/sights/museum/bishop-museum
To DEFEND HAWAII, is to defend the spirit of ALOHA. It is the resolve, accomplishment and state of mind, that is perpetuated through our culture and traditions; so that generations to come will live in our footprint. No where on God’s green earth can mirror the unconditional acceptance and support we show to family and strangers alike. It is our duty to preserve this spirit. To DEFEND HAWAII is to defend ALOHA; by any means necessary. Checkout defendhawaii.com to purchase a T-shirt.
Iao Valley State Park in Maui is a beautiful, lush place for a hike, but the land also holds some interesting history. It was in this spot in 1790 that King Kamehameha defeated Maui's army and changed the fate of Hawaii. The win allowed him to move forward with his mission of uniting the Hawaiian islands.
