A shantytown is a term used to describe small towns that include shacks. A majority of these shacks were made out of scrap materials. During the 1930's, people all across the country were hit by the Great Depression. Others used orange crates as shacks, or even wrapped themselves with newspaper in order to stay warm. Homelessness, hardship and hunger were all brought among these people.
