7 December 1941 - USS Pennsylvania (BB-38) was lead ship of Pennsylvania class of a US Navy super-dreadnought battleship. She was in dry-dock in the Pearl Harbor Navy Yard, Oahu, US Territory of Hawaii, and one of the first ships in the harbor to open fire as enemy dive and torpedo bombers. The Pennsylvania and the surrounding dock areas were severely strafed, but not bombed. She had 15 men killed (including her executive officer), 14 missing in action, and 38 wounded.
