Andries Pretorius, Voortrekker leader, co-founder of the Natalia Republic and the original South African Republic (comonly known as the Transvaal), and first Chairman of the United Volksraad of the latter. Pretoria, the main capital of South Africa, is named for him.

Andries Wilhelmus Jacobus Pretorius November 1798 – 23 July was a leader of the Boers who was instrumental in the creation of the Transvaal Republic, as well as the earlier but short-lived Natalia Republic, in present-day South Africa.
