Snoek on the braai with Chaloner Apricot Jam We decided to take advantage of the sunshine and warm weather over the weekend by having a typically Capetonian snoek braai. The combination of snoek and apricot jam has always baffled me but the tangy flavours work amazingly well with fish. Give this traditional recipe a try and we promise your friends will be begging you to make it for every braai over the summer!

Roasted Onion and Goat’s Cheese Tart with Olive and Chili Marmalade. Not much beats the combination of roasted onions and creamy goat’s cheese – add Chaloner’s olive and chili marmalade to the mix and you have a flavour explosion! This tart looks impressive but is super easy to make. It’s the perfect snack when you have guests over, or as a side dish when you have a braai.
Roasted Beetroot and Butternut Salad with Raspberry Vinaigrette. This delicious salad is the perfect way to highlight Chaloner’s delicious raspberry vinegar, olive oil and wild blossom honey. The great thing about it is that you can roast the vegetables and make the dressing in advance and then just quickly put it together before serving. Its fresh flavours make it a great side dish to any meat dishes.
Mixed Peppers stuffed with Ricotta, Feta and Olive Tapenade. These cheesy colourful stuffed peppers not only look wonderful on your table, but they’re a healthy addition to a meal too. They taste delicious the next day, so they’re perfect for a leftover lunch.
Smoked Garlic and Chili Pickle Marinated Prawn and Calamari Skewers Not only are these skewers absolutely delicious, they’re easy to make and can be made ahead of time. You can also grill them on the braai on even in a griddle pan on the stove. You can serve them just as they are as a snack, or boil up some basmati rice to make a meal out of it.
