After a Xhosa women is married she is known as a Makoti (young married women).For the six months after she has married she will wear a black headscarf, traditional shweshwe fabric skirt and blanket tied around her hips (known as a Makoti Blanket), a special outfit that signifies that you are a new bride and that you respect your elders.
