Still Having Fun with Factors (and a number freebie)
Still Having Fun with FactorsOK - so this is how we used these numbers today. We started off by reviewing factors, prime factorization, and multiples on the SMARTboard. I set up a page with dice and a chart. We rolled a two-digit number and as a whole class, came up with the factors, prime factors and multiples.

Math Multiplication
Least common multiple activity where students used a "multiple mountain" to find the LCM. They chose their own numbers and listed the first seven multiples of each number. If they didn't find the LCM, they used prime factorization on the trees at the base of their mountains.

Fun with factors: why the number 12 is King. Introduce the concept of factors with this colorful image. It could be said that 13 is masquerading as the most important number because it's the largest. But since it has only 2 factors (1 and 13) it's not nearly as rich or important as the others. Use this image to teach factors in the first grade (along with grouped objects like apples, oranges, etc.), then bring back the image in the 4th grade to teach more complex factors as well as fractions
