South African Melktert (Milktart) This is a wonderfully thick and flavourful milk custard set in a crust. A traditional tart which is loved by young and old alike. Children especially love the filling as a dessert.
Layered Milk Tart 1 litre c) full-cream milk 2 cinnamon sticks 60 ml (¼ c) custard powder 80 ml c) cornflour 1 can g) condensed milk 100 g Stork Bake, cubed 1 egg, whisked 2 packets g each) Tennis biscuits ground cinnamon .
Amarula Fridge Tart: 2 Packets of Tennis Biscuits 1 Tin Caramel Condensed Milk or Pie filling Amarula 300 ml (that’s where the tipsy part comes in) 3 Cups Milk 2 Heaped table spoons Corn flour 1 Heaped tablespoon Flour 4 eggs ¾ Cup Sugar
12 MAY 2013 Today was Mother’s Day in South Africa. Some of my happiest moments were the times spent with my mother in the early morning, sitting and talking about the day ahead while sipping strong coffee and nibbling on bran and buttermilk rusks.
