Ashanti Design - the art of upcycling
Conscious creations // ⠀⠀ It’s no quick process creating the fabric our products are made from. It’s an intricate labour of love hand-woven from tradition, pride and incredible artistry. ⠀⠀ The fibre of our colourful fabric originates from t-shirt offcuts: perfectly good material that would otherwise go to landfill. ⠀⠀ And because every inch is made from upcycled fabric that’s woven into existence by hand, each item is unique – just like you! ⠀⠀
Seasons greetings! 🌞 The Ashanti Team would like to say a big thank you, to our incredible Ashanti community for supporting our African made, sustainable and ethical business throughout 2019!
Here’s an interesting fact for you this Friday! ⠀⠀ We have calculated the amount of fabric we have upcycled and saved from going in to landfills and over the past couple years, this has amounted to 107,520 kilometers of stripped fabric 😱 This is enough to wrap around planet earth, 2.5 times! ⠀⠀ The scary thing is that this is just a small section of the clothing industry waste. ⠀⠀
Let’s give a little shout out to the wonderfully talented Madagascar community who weave every inch of our signature fabric in to existence. ⠀⠀ It’s no quick process creating the fabric our products are made from. It’s an intricate layout of love, hand-woven from tradition, pride and incredible artistry of the remote villagers who make it happen. ⠀⠀ The fiber of our signature colourful fabrics orginates from t-shirt offcuts - perfectly good material that would otherwise go to landfill. ⠀⠀
