Chalk Paint®: Projects / These projects are furniture and rooms updated with Chalk Paint®, by Annie, Annie's stockists and our customers. Annie Sloan first developed the Chalk Paint® range in 1990 to answer the need she had for a versatile paint that would work beautifully on furniture without priming or sanding; that would be easy to use and quick to dry; and that could be used for a number of different paint techniques. She called it Chalk Paint® because of its velvety, ultra matt finish.

Original is a warm slightly creamy soft white in the Chalk Paint® palette, the colour of old painted furniture. It is perfectly paired with Duck Egg Blue, Antoinette and Louis Blue for a delicate old distressed French look.

Old White is a cool soft white in the Chalk Paint® palette. The colour of chalk and gesso, this is a cool soft white without pink or yellow in it. Old White works with everything but for the quintessential French look use it over Paris Grey. It can also be added to any of the other colours to lighten them and make them the exact tone for your room.

Emile is a warm soft aubergine colour with pink red undertones giving a rich complexity that makes beautifully sophisticated lilac tones when Old White is added. A colour first used by artists and then later in decorative work, Emile finds its beginnings in bohemian Paris.

Barcelona Orange is a warm and vivacious orange in the Chalk Paint® palette. This vivacious, modern orange is based on the colour used copiously by the Impressionists, in early advertisements and in 1960's decoration. Such a brilliant orange was not available until the early 20th century. With Black Chalk Paint® Wax, it becomes burnt orange the colour of some Chinese lacquer.
