The Gouritsmond tribute that my grandmother had orginanised to be put up at the community hall to honor one of Gourits' canine celebraties. This dog would wonder through the whole town, saying hello to everyone, playing with us kids and of course getting all his meals as he went. He was cleverly named after the town itself.
Our family home in the small firsher's town called Gouritsmond. Lots of fond memories created in this little piece of heaven on earth. I spent two of my best years of growing up living in this small town. We were only a handful of kids living there. Not many people can say they went barefoot to school, got to play with farm animals during breaks at school, having the whole school of 40 something kids play "open the gate", and going to the beach after school everyday!
