Drakensberg Morning

Here's one of a few older shots from my 2011 trip to southern Africa I recently dug out. It was taken on a rather clear summer morning in Royal Natal National Park, South Africa. The Tugela River flows in front of the massive cliffs of the Amphitheater - a famous geographical feature of the Northern Drakensberg. Check out more shots from South Africa here. The Bearded vulture Gypaetus barbatus or Lammergeier as it used to be called, is the only bird in the world that can survive almost exclusively on a bone diet.
