An African Dan Tribe and Shell Wood Carved Society Liberia/Ivory Coast. Bi-planar with angular chin and with cloth and cowries shell band, metal eye band and inset metal teeth; varied dark brown encrusted patina. 11 ¼”H (28.6cm), complete with custom mount. Provenance: Collected in Eastern Liberia by Hayden and Odette Walling, 1952-54. Condition report Aged, some losses to shell else excellent.
