Make store bought icing taste like home made! For a tub of frosting, spoon out all of it into a medium-sized bowl. 1. Add 1/4 cup of powdered sugar 2. Add 1.5 teaspoons of vanilla 3. Using a mixer, beat the frosting for 2-3 minutes making sure the powdered sugar and vanilla is well combined. If tinting frosting with food dye, add the dye when you add the powdered sugar and vanilla. The powdered sugar helps to “stiffen” the frosting making it easier to use with pastry bags.
Fluffy Vanilla Sugar Frosting — I (Mary) just made this and it's fantastic!! Very different since you start with a milk and flour rue, then add butter and granulated sugar (not powdered). It's fluffy, smooth, buttery and just a little sweet. Kinda reminds me of home made whipped cream, crossed with sugar cookie dough.
