North By Northwest

The final chase scene in North By Northwest (1959) was not shot on Mt. Rushmore; Alfred Hitchcock wanted to film there but couldn’t gain permission to shoot an attempted murder on a national monument. The scene instead was shot in the studio on a giant replica of Mt. Rushmore. Everything was filmed carefully, so as to avoid associating the faces of the monument with the violence occurring in the film.
North By Northwest (Alfred Hitchcock, 1957), poster by Ed Pires: One of the best multi-genre films of all time, and one of my favorite "haute cuisine" flicks. Ain't no junk food film here, people. Just Cary Grant and Alfred Hitchcock and sun-drenched noir-inspired scenes all around.
