A friend once shared this photo on Facebook. I obtained permission to paint it and this is the result. This friend is an extremely creative lady and the picture speaks of the potential these elements have in her hands. I also loved the weathered look, the vibrant colours against the browns and greys as well as the contrast of the smooth metal offset by the grainy wood. Soft pastel on paper. 335 x 240 mm.
Walking through the streets of Helensburgh, Scotland, I came across the old chair lying against a dilapidated old fence. It seemed completely out of place in its immaculate setting and made a strong emotional appeal on my senses. I snapped a quick picture and went home to paint it. Soft pastel on paper. 272 x 354 mm.
