The Gospel of Jesus Christ
"Christ did not die to forgive sinners who go on treasuring anything above seeing and savoring God. And people who would be happy in Heaven if Christ were not there, will not be there. The Gospel is NOT a way to get people to Heaven; it is a way to get people to God. It's a way of overcoming every obstacle to everlasting joy in God. If we don't want God above all things, we have not been converted by the Gospel." - John Piper
Spurgeon said, "The heart of the Gospel is redemption, and the essence of redemption is the substitutionary sacrifice of Christ." - Colossians 1:14 "In whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins" & Ephesians 1:7 "In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace"
John Wesley wrote, "The very first end(or the main purpose) of the Law, namely, convicting men of sin; awakening those who are still asleep on the brink of Hell.... The ordinary method of God is to convict sinners by the Law, and that only. The Gospel is not the means which God hath ordained, or which our Lord Himself used, for this end.”
WHAT WAS THE GOOD TIDINGS OF GREAT JOY THAT IS FOR ALL PEOPLE? It was that the Savior was born that day. The ONLY Savior. The ONLY Way. The Good Tidings of great joy is the Gospel - that Christ died for our sin and rose again. The Good Tidings of great joy is that you don't have to face God in your sins and be sentenced to the Lake of Fire. You can be saved. Repent and trust Jesus. Luke 2:10-11 KJV "And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which
Spurgeon said, "A bloodless Gospel is a lifeless Gospel." Hebrews 9:22b says, "without shedding of blood is no remission." We cannot diminish the importance of the Blood of Christ Jesus because without it there is no remission of sins. Jesus said in Matthew 26:28 "For this is My blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins." The Gospel is powerless and lifeless without it.
"If all the animals and man had been evolved in this ascendant manner, then there had been no first parents, no Eden, and no Fall. And if there had been no fall, then the entire historical fabric of Christianity, the story of the first sin and the reason for an atonement . . . collapses like a house of cards." H.G. Wells (The outline of history being a plain history of life and mankind, Cassell & Company Ltd, London, UK, (the fourth revision), Vol. 2, p. 616, 1925.) He is right. If the creation
GENESIS 3:15 IS THE FIRST PLACE IN THE BIBLE THAT THE GOSPEL IS PROCLAIMED - “This was a shadowy reference that Eve would have a human descendant (He) who would crush the work of the devil, but it will cause that human a great deal of pain (a bruised heel). Theologians call this verse the proto-evangelium, the first Gospel. While certainly not a complete picture of salvation, it is the first time the Gospel is promised. That promise was given immediately after mans’ fall into sin. The Gospel beg
We are commanded to obey the Gospel but what shall be the end of them that obey not the Gospel of God? "Gospel" means good news but the good news is not nearly as good unless you understand the bad news. The bad news is we are all sinners and are condemned already to eternity in Hell if we die in our sins. The good news is Jesus died in your place. Don't wait too late to repent of your sins and trust Jesus to save you. Jesus said, "Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish." - Luke 13:3 & 5. Revelation 20:15 says, "And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire."
"Evermore the Law must prepare the way for the gospel. To overlook this in instructing souls is almost certain to result in false hope, the introduction of a false standard of Christian experience, and to fill the Church with false converts... Time will make this plain." ~ Charles Finney 1792 - 1875
