House Uys in Pretoria, South Africa. This is a single storey home built in a farming estate and located with views over the neighboring golf course, enjoying the best of both worlds. A steel I-beam and wood structure, reminiscent of an elongated spine, frames the western facade from the street, while leading the eye to the front door. Completed 2010 by Mathews and Associates Architects. Photo courtesy of Pieter Mathews.

House Taylor, designed for well known sculptor in Pretoria, South Africa. Through the novel use of windows and skylights as design features, the home also functions as a gallery for the client’s own work and art collection. The client was directly involved with the construction. As a result, the finishes and materials used are bold, raw and innovative, creating a home ideally suited to the client’s own sculptural creations. Zen View to Sculpt by Angus Taylor.
