VW 4x4? I assume this image is of a WWII army variant of the beetle. Normally the Beetle has a shift rod inclosed in the center tube of the floor pan. This image shows two rods outside of the tube. There is also a rag joint visible on a shaft near the tail of the shift housing. This shaft must go forward to a solidly mounted front differential. One shift rod is for shifting from two to four wheel drive. The other rod for selecting the proper gear.

Alfa Romeo 6C 3000 “Pininfarina” (1960).

I am a big fan of and owner of some Alfa Romeo models! Most of the images were obtained through surveys done over the years through site searches by the automakers themselves, as well as on websites.
